About JC Fit City

Research shows that over 65% of Hong Kong’s population do not maintain a healthy exercise regime. To promote their interest in physical activity, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has initiated and funded JC Fit City. The project aims to encourage Hong Kong citizens to incorporate sports and exercise into their daily lives with the aim of achieving the World Health Organization’s recommended weekly level of physical activity. Through citywide iconic events and a wide range of low-entry-barrier sports activities, JC Fit City strives to increase citizens’ awareness of the benefits of an active lifestyle and help them build peer support networks through participating in sports. JC Fit City is co-organised by the Hong Kong Playground Association, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, RunOurCity Foundation, InspiringHK Sports Foundation, the Elite Athletes Charitable Trust and The Education University of Hong Kong.

About JC Fit City - City Runners

Organized by RunOurCity Foundation, this program aims to provide participants with a comprehensive “Active Health” running experience, from zero to regular weekly workouts. The program encourages working professionals, seniors, families, and individuals with special learning needs to restart their exercise routines to enhance both physical and mental health. Additionally, the program offers free running classes and running groups across all 18 districts of Hong Kong, fostering a running habit, as well as creating a happy and healthy city.

Program Details

1. Running Classes

4 Experience Classes

•  Stretching exercises
•  Basic running techniques
•  Strength training
•  Long-distance running training

*Build confidence and teamwork through the training

8 Basic Training Classes

•  Agility training
•  Speed runs / Interval training / Tempo runs
•  Street running training
•  Challenge yourself to complete a 6-8 km street run

*Learn mutual encouragement and persistence through the training and long-distance runs

Running Group Leader Training Workshop

•  Cultivate team leaders
•  Organization and facilitation skills training
•  Team communication and management skills
•  Emotional management techniques

*Learn mutual encouragement and enhance leadership qualities through the training
*Progress gradually, but not limited to completing just one class.

2. "City Runners" Running Groups

•  Establish various running groups across different districts to promote running activities
•  Bring together runners from different communities and lifestyles
•  Each running group has its own unique features
•  Lead group members to run through different streets and alleys of the community
•  Regular running activities
