RunOurCity Foundation

Your support can provide valuable resources and opportunities for SEN youth through RunOurCity!

“Run To Transform” is the guiding belief of RunOurCity. We aspire to inspire lives through running! Our aim is to create a platform to support SEN students. Through systematic running training, focused group activities and the provision of a caring and inclusive environment, SEN students can learn self-regulation skills, improving their execution, learning, social, and emotional management abilities. These benefits of running training alleviate symptoms and potentially reduce dependence on medication. More importantly, we help them build confidence and realize their potential.

In Hong Kong, about 8% of school-aged youth have special educational needs (SEN), and they face challenges in daily tasks, which include learning and socializing. These students are often being misunderstood and labeled as “uncooperative” or “troublesome.” Meanwhile, families and caregivers bear a heavy burden in caring for them.

The program will collect data on participants before and after training to assess its effectiveness. We hope that professional analysis and academic research will help us further optimize and develop future running and sports-related programs for SEN students, benefiting more youth and families.

SEN students can also be “overlooked treasures.” By paying attention to their strengths, we discover that each of them has unique shining qualities! Even starting from different points, they can still embark on a fulfilling life journey.
