Our first goal was to lead everyone to the base of Stonecutters Bridge for a group photo. Each week, our five run leaders observe members’ conditions, adjust routes and distances, and gradually enhance training through games. “Being able to run with my wife is my biggest motivation for joining the group. After the training courses, she developed an interest in running and became friends with other runners. Everyone wanted to keep running together and supporting each other. To help her run along a safe route, and because other runners preferred being led by familiar faces, I gathered my courage to become a run leader.

Each time I plan a route, I set a basic distance with optional extensions for those who want extra training, so everyone’s needs are met. I also organize off‑track activities so that members can bond and feel relaxed while running freely. Through consistency, we grow happier, stronger, and healthier together.”

👍🏻 Specialty: Observant, a good listener who loves helping others

“I first started running to challenge myself and improve both body and mind, but I’ve also learned to appreciate life through it. Running alone builds discipline and willpower, but running with others gives greater motivation and shared growth. I hope all runners, old and new, can feel the power of teamwork, support one another, and move toward their goals together. With persistence and companionship, running can bring endless joy and become a positive force in life.

“I was once an elementary school cross‑country champion and a secondary‑school runner‑up for 8–10 K races, but I stopped for many years. After gaining weight during motherhood — almost thirty pounds — I started running again in 2017 to lose weight. I ran off the fat, gained happiness, lightness, self‑healing, courage, confidence, and resilience. Knowing the benefits of running, I enjoy it even more, especially when running with like‑minded friends. I’m grateful to have health, strength, and the ability to run. I hope everyone stays healthy, happy, and fulfilled. Run together, farther and happier — it’s true ✌✌.

👍🏻 Specialty: A bit of everything, always learning seriously; improving step by step without overworking the body

Looking back at my first marathon on Tolo Harbour Highway — that was in the late 1980s! I stopped for years afterward. After putting work stress behind me, I wanted new hobbies to stay active and spent some meaningful time running again. I reset my gear, headed outdoors 🏃, and rediscovered the joy of running. The scenic waterfront near my home motivates me too. Joining a running group has made it even more fun — we encourage and support each other, and together we completed my first half‑marathon. My next goal: finish the full Hong Kong Streetathon!

I’m still learning and rebuilding my knowledge as a new run leader. My hope is to accompany beginners while growing together. It’s a blessing to meet on the same track — so let’s keep running side by side, one step at a time, and build a healthy life together 💪 Go for it!
