Founded by RunOurCity, RunOurCity Foundation Limited is a not-for-profit charity body that caters and serves the underserved communities. We advocate and leverage compassion running to bring together different pockets of the society to promote harmony and empathy.

Youth.ROC, our pioneer project aimed at Youths has so far served 12,000+ youngsters to motivate them from the coach to completing 10km run. We populate and infuse the program with multiple elements to enrich the meaning of healthy running to our participants to help them cultivate their running habits and cultures.

The Foundation is now reaching out to communities with impediments and women groups and will continue to explore serving more under-served communities, to allow more folks to enjoy and benefit from the goodness of running!

Founders & Directors

Leong Cheung

Founder

Mr. Leong Cheung is the Executive Director of Charities and Community of The Hong Kong Jockey Club. Leong is responsible for committing an annual donation budget of ~USD 550M to build an impactful philanthropic portfolio that enhances the betterment of Hong Kong through the Club’s Charities Trust. In addition to donating to support partners, the Trust also proactively initiates, convenes and manages a few significant projects with high impact. Tai Kwun, the revitalization of the Central Police Station compound, is a shining example winning the highest recognition Award of Excellence in the 2019 UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Leong represents the Club’s Charities Trust as HK Chapter co-Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN). Leong was an operating partner with Bain Capital and had held various senior positions in business before switching track to the world of philanthropy.

Ken Lo

Chairman

Mr. Ken Lo has been a Board Member of RunOurCity Foundation since 2015. He is an established business leader with expertise in sales management, business development, strategic business planning, and new media, having led Sony Pictures Television in the role of Executive Vice President, Distribution & Networks, Asia Pacific and managing a team of 300 professionals located across the Asia region. Ken is currently also the Chairman of Musicus Society, a charity that promotes the education of classical music and organizes world-class concert performances featuring next-gen classical musicians from Hong Kong. From never exercising regularly until the age of 39, Ken entered his first 10km marathon at the invitation of a group of friends, and had been addicted to running ever since. He has also during this journey experienced first-hand the mental and physical benefits and satisfaction of going from zero to 10km, even at a relative “old age”. Ken has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo, Canada. His work experience prior to Sony Pictures Television include Microsoft, Deloitte Consulting and McKinsey & Company.

Francis Ngai

Co-founder & Director

Mr. Francis Ngai is the Founder and CEO of Social Ventures Hong Kong (SVhk), an impact purpose organization dedicated to the support and nurture of social innovation ecosystem. Among the projects that SVhk has founded and incubated include RunOurCity, Green Monday (promotion of vegetarian lifestyles) and LightBe (Light Home is the first social housing for underprivileged families) etc. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network.

Prior to SVhk, Mr. Ngai was Head of Strategy at a listed technology conglomerate. Mr. Ngai was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Hong Kong in 2011, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2012, The Purpose Economy's 100 Asia Pioneers in 2014 and honorary fellows at City University and Education University of Hong Kong. As an ultra-running veteran, Francis completed The North Pole Marathon in 2013 (7 hr 2min, ranked 1st from HK) and the 250-km Gobi March of the 4 Deserts race series in 2012 (39 hr 29min, ranked 51/145).

Dr. Andes Leung, co-founder and CEO of "RunOurCity", a social enterprise aims to transform life through the promotion of running. Throughout his 20-year running journey, he has completed 100 full marathons and ultra-marathon races, summing up over 6,000km. His running history includes, Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc (UTMB) 100 miles and 4 Desert Race Series: The Last Desert 116km (Antarctica), Gobi March 250km, Sahara Race 250km, and Atacama Crossing 250km. He finished one marathon a month, totally 12 marathons covering 7 continents around the world. Published 2 books of “12 Marathons in 7 Continents” and “12 Marathons for Happiness” to share his running experience. He was Adjunct Professor of Hong Kong Baptist University and is a columnist in am730 media.
