Lee Hysan Foundation - SEN Students Running Program

RunOurCity Foundation is honored to receive funding from the Lee Hysan Foundation to launch a short-term pilot program, “Running Program for SEN,” aimed at helping SEN youth improve focus and enhance self-care skills through running.

The goals of the program include building confidence in SEN youth, helping them connect with society. Additionally, the objective of the program is to provide parents with a supportive environment while equipping them with more knowledge related to SEN, thereby strengthening family relationships.

The running curriculum of this program is designed by three local universities: The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and is led by running coaches experienced in teaching SEN students.

We aim to analyze data collected from the program, with insights from academic professors, to provide a long-term, simple, and effective solution for SEN students.

Program Objectives

❖ To enhance physical health, endurance, and resilience in SEN students through systematic running practices and trainings

❖ To offer a respite space for parents of SEN students and equip caregivers with more knowledge related to SEN.

❖ To train more running coaches to provide effective running and exercise programs for SEN students.

❖ To establish an evidence-based running training program that can serve as best practices for SEN service organizations and schools in the long run.

❖ To set a future blueprint for SEN education and services through empirical research published by university professors.
